What is a “FedEx Day?”
A FedEx Day is a fixed time box in which people are not disturbed for regular work. Within this time box, employees have total autonomy over the project they are enthusiastic about. They decide for themselves what they will be working on, who they are going to work with, and how they are going to do it. Only one rule applies: People who sign up show the results to the company at the end of the FedEx Day. — Rob van Lanen, Scrum.org
And yes, that fixed time box is 24-hours. FedEx delivers overnight, right?
FedEx Days at mySugr
We have FedEx Days at mySugr once or twice every few months. The frequency all depends on workload, projects, resources, and other typical work stuff. I’m sure you can imagine. Somewhere in the busyness of regular work, someone says they need another FedEx Day, and the stars start to align. Before long, there’s one the calendar, people are thinking about their ideas and forming teams.
One of the recent ideas is this collection of stories on Medium about working at mySugr. Each story is written by a different mySugr monster and offers their unique perspective and experience. We will make it a living repository with new stories from many different people at mySugr, so please do follow and check back often!
