mySugr search - make your diabetes data useful

November 24, 2015 by Anne Kainz

How can you best use your diabetes data when searching for something is worse than looking for a needle in a haystack?

With a really annoyed feeling, I think back to my paper logbook days. It sucked! It was impossible to search for a particular event or situation, and it wasn’t quick – which isn’t good when sitting with your doctor!

Search & filter

mySugr Logbook’s search helps you find important therapy data in a split second. There are various search filters to help you find what you need with just a few taps.

You can search for the following filters:

  • Text (free form content)
  • Current location
  • Current time
  • Blood glucose in range
  • Hyper
  • Hypo
  • Tags
  • Nutrition tags
  • HbA1c
  • Weight
  • Blood pressure
  • Ketones

To start searching, just click on the magnifying glass on your home screen and tap between different search filters you’re interested in. Of course, you can also combine the filters.

Example: Search for tags

Your doctor asks how often you wake up in the morning with a hyper? Easy peasy!

In the search screen, tap tags, choose the “fasting” tag and confirm with “done”. Do you see the additional search filters along the bottom? A quick tap on “Hi” will add that filter. You’ll instantly have a list of all days you woke up high.

Does this happen often? Maybe it’s time for a basal rate test.

Example: Search for text

You’re scheduled to have lunch with Scott, and of course, it’s grilled cheese sandwiches. You can’t remember how you handled this situation last time. You search for the text “grilled cheese,” and you’ll see every instance where you logged grilled cheese sandwiches. Now you can see where you ate, what you ordered, what you calculated, and how your blood sugar responded. Does that sound helpful? I bet you can use that information to make a pretty good decision now, right?

You can also search for the location via free text, or tap the “current location” icon if you ever find yourself in line at the place of the feast. That’s one of my favorite searches because it’s so fast. Literally, two taps (search, current location icon) and I have everything I’ve ever logged near that spot. So helpful!
