mySugr receives AADE accreditation: 3 things to know

The new year is off to a great start for mySugr! We are excited to share that our coaching program is officially accredited by the AADE, whose name recently changed to the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES). This milestone marks a tremendous achievement for our company, our coaching team and the lives of so many people living with diabetes that we touch every day.

As we celebrate this milestone, we want to share more about why the accreditation is so important for a digital diabetes management solution like mySugr and what it means to all those that we touch. We’ve pulled together three things to know about the accreditation and the impact it has on mySugr’s business.

What does it mean to be accredited?

Simply put, the accreditation means that our coaching service has proven that it meets and upholds the 10 National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management and Support (DSMES). These standards are agreed upon jointly by the ADA, ADCES and CMS . This means that we not only deliver a high-quality coaching service that is designed and delivered to maximize outcomes for those living with diabetes, but also that we deliver the same level of quality and coaching as clinics that provide diabetes management.

What does accreditation mean for the future of mySugr?

For mySugr, the accreditation is exciting because it lays the foundation for the future. It allows us to focus on our growth and help more people living with diabetes by helping employers and other healthcare insurance providers push towards the goal of making virtual care a standard of care.

Being recognized as a digital diabetes management leader in reinventing diabetes care is exciting.  We look forward to continued growth with our employer and healthcare insurance provider partners to simplify and improve the day-to-day of living with diabetes, while at the same time helping to reduce costs.

The importance of our CDEs & what to expect working with them.

Our CDEs (Certified Diabetes Educators) are the backbone of our program  as they are responsible for delivering diabetes education directly to our users. In order to become a CDE, one must first meet the eligibility requirements as outlined by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE). In addition they must have 1,000 hours of diabetes education, clock 15 hours of diabetes-related continuing education and they must pass an exam.

mySugr CDEs provide  one-on-one personalized coaching and work closely with people living with diabetes to set and achieve personal health goals and overcome daily challenges of managing diabetes. CDEs are viewed not only as coaches, but also as mentors, advisors and confidants, guiding users through their personalized diabetes journey.

We take great pride in our CDEs and they play an important role in our diabetes management program. We’ve seen that users who engage most with our coaches are more likely to see reductions in A1c than those who do not, which is a testament to the quality of coaching that we provide. A couple of months ago, we had the opportunity to sit down with Molly Wagman, who leads our coaching service to gain better insights as to how our CDEs make a difference in our service delivery and she had a lot to share which you can read here.

As you can see, there are many reasons why working with an accredited diabetes coaching program is beneficial and why we are so excited to celebrate this occasion. We are thrilled to share how far we have come since adding coaching to our diabetes solution.
