What does unlimited strips really mean?

Really, you get as many test strips as you need, and they’re automatically delivered. Check as often as you want, seriously! We’ve got your back!

How does the coaching work?

You have unlimited messaging with your coach via the mySugr app. All of the mySugr Coaches are certified diabetes educators who live with diabetes.     Does my insurance cover this?

    This is like the gold mine of diabetes testing supplies! While I have some of the best insurance there is out there, it provides really poor coverage for diabetics and doesn’t cover glucose meters, strips, or lancets whatsoever! I have to pay for everything 100% out of pocket, which can be really expensive and sometimes I simply have to go without because we simply cannot afford the expense. And I like to test a lot – like after I workout, before and after every meal, before bed, etc – because that’s when I have the best control. This would make that possible without breaking the bank, PLUS I’ll actually have someone who’s been-there-done-that to ask questions to… This almost seems too good to be true, but I cannot wait to get signed up and try it for myself 🙂 Thank you for sharing this!!!!

    How many strips are sent at a time? What about lancets? I’m in Canada, how can I take advantage of this?

  • Hi! The welcome kit includes 5 boxes of 50 Guide test strips, an Accu-Chek Guide meter, a FastClix lancing device and a box of 100(+2) lancets. From that point on, the amount of strips you receive is personalized based on how many you use and is shipped on a quarterly basis (or more often if necessary). We’re always keeping track of it for you via the in-app synchronization, so if you hit a rough patch or get sick and suddenly your testing behavior changes, we’ll notice and get more strips to you before you even notice you’re running low.

    Unfortunately, this isn’t available yet in Canada. We hope to expand the offering soon, though!

    Shipped quarterly… I do have a mailbox (it’s at a storage facility, so proper mailing address) in Niagara Falls, NY. I’m about 2 hours from there. I wouldn’t mind making a quarterly trip – but this means about 600-700 strips per shipment (if I’m testing at every meal & before bed)?

    2x (pre/post meal) per meal (6) + before bed (1) is a minimum of 7 per day, or 210 strips for 30 days = 630 for 90 days (1 quarter)

    I’ve been taught to discard lancets after one use, so it should be a 1:1 ratio of strips and lancets? or can these actually be reused without dulling/infection?

  • We send as many strips as needed based on what you use (counted via the synchronization between the meter mySugr app), so there’s no worry about the quantity of strips. If you check a lot, we send a lot! I have to officially say that this offer is officially open to the United States. I can’t comment any further than that.

    Regarding the lancets… you are a rare breed! 7 of 10 people with diabetes I’ve met in my time change lancets *maybe* twice a year. Maybe. But if your doctor/educator recommends changing more often, you should definitely follow their instruction. That being said, what comes with the mySugr Bundle Starter Kit is a box of 100(+2) FastClix lancets. For most of us, that’s a lifetime supply. (I’m teasing. But only a little bit. 🙂 )

    I would love to join, but I can’t afford $40 a month. I was lucky that a good friend of mine paid for the MySugr app for a year. I really could use a better system then what I use now. And I know I can’t get it through my Inc. They keep changing things I can do to lower their cost. Like I can only test two times a day. Maybe someday I’ll afford this.

  • Our understanding is that HSA’s and some FSA’s typically do cover test strips as an OTC allowable without the need for a prescription. However, you may need to have a prescription simply for the purposes of if you were to be audited, you would need to prove you had a medical need for the subscription.

    Our suggestion would be to call your benefits manager first to confirm that they will reimburse for the monthly subscription since it will be providing test strips to you, rather than you going to a pharmacy to get them.
